According to media reports, Wi Ha-joon has been approached to co-star with Park Min-young in the new drama Siren. While Wi Ha-joon’s agency has yet to respond, Park Min-young’s side confirms the actor has received the offer and is currently in the review phase.

Siren is a Korean version of the 1999 hit Japanese drama Kôri no Sekai, aka Ice World, starring Yutaka Takenouchi and Nanako Matsushima. The story revolves around a schoolteacher’s abrupt death. The plot thickens when a detective gets a cryptic letter implying the demise isn’t accidental and that the perpetrator is within the school. It turns out the incident could be connected to a different teacher from the school, who appears to be involved in more mysterious deaths. As the detective looks into the case, he teams up with an insurance investigator working on a scam case, and together they search for the missing pieces that connect all the deaths.

The drama’s name, Siren, stems from the Greek mythology about Sirens—a reference to the enigmatic half-bird, half-woman creatures who, as legends say, lived on the rocky islands of Anthemoessa, Sirenum scopuli, Cape Pelorum, and the Sirenuse. And with their hypnotic singing, they dragged sailors to graves, causing ships to capsize.

Rumor has it that Park Min-young will play the mysterious teacher at the center of all the deaths, whose romantic relationships have so far ended in inexplicable suicides by her partners. Interestingly, she has always managed to claw her way out of the investigations. However, her colleague’s sudden death puts her in a sticky spot, caught in the middle of an inescapable inquiry led by two investigators—one of whom may be Wi Ha-joon’s character.

Siren follows Park Min-young’s upcoming drama, The Confidence Man KR, slated for release this year, and the overwhelming popularity of her last drama, Marry My Husband (2024). If confirmed, the series will be Wi Ha-jun’s next, succeeding The Midnight Romance in Hagwon (2024), Squid Game 2 (2024), and the impending Squid Game 3 (July 27, 2025). He will also make a guest appearance in the upcoming web series Shark: The Storm.
