I’ve never known Vasuda personally, but she is one of the few people I was instantly drawn to as a woman and an artist. When I was just out of school, I was part of a choir called Artistes Unlimited and we covered a song that Vasuda’s group Aasma had recorded after their Channel [V] Popstars stint. It’s mostly through Facebook that I have been aware of her solo work since.First of all, she is stunnnnning. She has an air of peace about her and a certain conviction and strength that I find lacking in many ladies who get caught in the grind. She exudes a sense of comfort and gentleness and she wears her convictions in that easy, non-aggressive way. This comes through transparently in her singing. Her voice and style are honest, clear, centered and absolutely beautiful. She is also one of those voices that I have admired for long”¦ a voice that, while it is singing, carries a certain silence with it”¦ within it”¦ Like [Eva] Cassidy but Indian.

I love how she uses her artistic stance and her education in music in complementing ways. I love her loopy things. I love the content she chooses to sing about. Vasuda is notoriously lovable and for someone who has never spent a minute with her, I feel it is a fair bit to say.
