New Scholarship for Women Artists, Producers and Sound Engineers Announced
Women of Music India collaborate with Goa’s Future School of Performing Arts to give three candidates full scholarship in music education

Three women music professionals will be shortlisted for the first-ever 100 percent scholarship to study at Future School of Performing Arts in Goa, as part of a new collaboration with the recently-launched community Women of Music India (WoMI). Last date to apply is Sept. 12, 2024.
Applicants must have successfully completed Grade 10 to apply for the scholarship, with the form also requiring applicants to choose between two fields of interest – music production and sound engineering.
The music production pathway includes certificate courses in music programming, music production and music composition, each 11 months long. The sound engineering pathway has three certificate courses, also 11 months each in duration – audio technology, sound design and live sound & show production.
A press release announcing the scholarships says, “This initiative is designed to empower women in the music industry by providing full-tuition scholarships for three deserving candidates in music production and sound engineering. The scholarship aims to make music education more accessible to all. This collaboration symbolizes the commitment of both organizations to fostering a more equitable music industry and nurturing diverse talent.”
The WoMI Scholarship, in addition to covering funding, will also provide “career support, mentorship from industry experts, and access to a network of creatives through WoMI membership,” the press release adds. “This initiative is crucial in addressing the underrepresentation of women in music production and sound engineering, paving the way for future generations of female artists and professionals.”
WoMI founder Priyanka Khimani says in her statement, “Education is a powerful tool, and scholarships open doors to those who aspire to learn. Our goal is to make those opportunities accessible to everyone. The Women of Music India X Future School of Performing Arts scholarship is committed to investing in the next generation of female music producers and sound engineers.”
