Woosung collaborated with various artists to create new mixes of popular tracks from his previous album, ‘4444’
Woosung (The Rose) achieved a career milestone with the release of his album 4444 last year (Oct. 2024). The record not only drew fans and listeners but also landed at #6 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Chart. But that wasn’t surely the close of 4444’s journey; Woosung is now back with something to commemorate its sound and soul, albeit with a fresh twist. He has unveiled his 4444 Remix Project, 4444: Reborn, made in collaboration with various global superstars putting together new mixes of its popular tracks.
The project has the famed Italian electronic music duo Mathame—Matteo and Amedeo Giovanelli—known for their innovations in sound and production techniques. Their influence in 4444: Reborn stands out in their take on “44 (Forget Forever).” This version brings a surreal quality that deepens the emotional impact of what Woosung initially created. Their distinct style mixes complex tunes with layered sounds, resulting in a smooth fusion that highlights their artistry and most effectively befits Woosung’s artistic vision, his sound, and his style.
KC Lights, a Scottish musician, DJ, and producer, joins the mix with his infectious sound—an exciting blend of groove-driven electronic music—that brings more power to Woosung’s work and enriches the listening experience. Likewise, the set’s already eclectic soundscape is jazzed up by the inventiveness of Raiden, an icon in the Korean dance music scene.
4444: Reborn’s role as a celebration of electronic music is further solidified by its debut of IÖN, Park Gyu-jeong’s new DJ persona from the well-known Korean producer duo GroovyRoom. There are also two remixes by Lame Impala, the electronic alter ego of Brian Lee, who not only co-produced but also co-wrote four tracks on 4444 together with Justin Kwon.
Woosung’s younger brother, AJ, lends a personal and creative touch to 4444: Reborn, heralding the beginning of his career. The collaborating artists have combined their distinct sonic signatures, spanning the eight-track set with Woosung’s emotive artistry for an album of remixes that encompass electronic music genres, especially melodic house, tech house, and funk, implying Woosung’s affinity for the electronic music scene that has long influenced him.
The variety of remixes in 4444: Reborn commemorates the original as well as takes it to new heights. In a press release, Woosung said, “4444: Reborn isn’t just a celebration of my album but a reflection of the incredible artists and styles that shape the genre today. It’s been amazing to see how each collaborator has brought their own vision to my music.”
