Yes, Chef: ‘The Bear’ Renewed for Season Three

Carmy is headed back into the kitchen. FX has officially renewed The Bear for a third season, which will air on Hulu along with the prior two.

“The Bear, which wowed audiences in its first season only to achieve even greater heights in season two, has become a cultural phenomenon,” Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, said in a statement. “We’re so proud to partner with Christopher Storer, Joanna Calo, Josh Senior, and the rest of the creative team, as well as the brilliant cast led by Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. What they and the crew have done is truly remarkable, and we and our partners at Hulu join fans in looking forward to the next chapter in the story of The Bear.”

The first season of The Bear, which was created by Christopher Storer and premiered in 2022, introduced audiences to Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Allen White), an acclaimed chef who took over the family sandwich shop in Chicago after the sudden death of his brother. The second season, which arrived this summer, saw Carmy, Sydney Adamu (Edebiri), and Richard “Richie” Jerimovich (Moss-Bachrach) attempting to transform their grimy sandwich joint into a next-level spot.

Rolling Stone‘s critic Alan Sepinwall wrote that “every emotion the show conjures is a palpable, potent one, so that the lighter scenes create the illusion that you’re standing right next to the characters, while the heavier ones make you experience the pain right along with them.”

He noted of season two, “It remains a magnificent achievement. The ever-so-slight shift in tone most of the time doesn’t change that — especially since The Bear can still make scenes and episodes so nerve-racking, you will question every life choice that led you to watching it.”

Season One of The Bear is currently nominated for 13 Emmys, including Outstanding Comedy Series. Allen White is nominated alongside Moss-Bachrach, Edebiri, Jon Bernthal, and Oliver Platt. The series also previously won a Golden Globe, SAG, and Critics Choice Award.

Moss-Bachrach told Rolling Stone earlier this year that he’s been shocked by the show’s success. “We made it in a vacuum the first time around,” he said. “I was really proud of it, but I had no idea if anyone would like it. I thought if anything, because I thought it was really good that probably meant that it was going to be a complete failure critically, and so that was just a total shock to me and to Jeremy and me and Ayo.”

He added, “But I guess when we came back to make the second season, the biggest emotion I felt was joy to get to be back with this group of people that I love and get to do it again. It felt like such a bonus.”
