In the small village of Dambuk in Arunachal Pradesh, Miami-based Swedish guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen will make his India debut, at the third edition of the annual Orange Festival of Adventure and Music, to be held between December 15th and 18th.

Malmsteen is the festival’s first big international headliner, and will perform alongside Arunachal metal band Sacred Secrecy and rock act Tani on December 17th. Other big musical draws at the festival include New Delhi rock band Menwhopause who will be promoting their upcoming album Neon Delhi as part of their ongoing North East tour, Arunachal-bred indie rockers Yesterdrive, Kolkata rock band The Ganesh Talkies, Mumbai singer-songwriter Shubhangi Joshi Collective, Mumbai punk rockers The Lightyears Explode, Kolkata/Darjeeling funk rockers Gingerfeet and more.

Malmsteen said in a statement, “I’m very excited to play in India for the first time and can’t wait to see all my Indian fans and rock out to a very magical night.”

The adventure side of the four-day festival also includes activities such as river rafting, ATV rides, ziplining, elephant rides and trekking, among others.

Founded in 2014, Malmsteen’s inclusion is likely to draw a lot of the North East’s diehard metal and hard rock fans. Like its state counterpart, the Ziro Festival of Music, the Orange Festival of Adventure and Music is supported by the state government, via local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Gum Tayeng.
