‘Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous’ Is Coming to Netflix Soon
A documentary film on the rapper and singer’s life and times, directed by Mozez Singh and produced by Oscar-winning producer Guneet Monga, was previewed at a recent event by the OTT platform
Almost a year after the official announcement of a documentary film on rapper/singer Yo Yo Honey Singh was announced by Netflix, more details are now emerging about Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous.
Directed by filmmaker Mozez Singh and produced by Oscar-winning producer Guneet Monga, the documentary follows the triumphs and losses of the party-starting hitmaker. Mozez Singh, who has previously directed Bollywood movies like Zubaan in 2015 and the thriller series Human in 2022, shines a light on the “Desi Kalakaar” and “Chaar Botal Vodka” hitmaker’s time out of the public glare for a few years.
A teaser and announcement for the documentary – without its title – was made in March 2023, with the artist promising a look into his life. Honey Singh said about working with Mozez, “He spoke about faith, and I instantly felt like I can trust him, and he has made a great documentary. You all may know Yo Yo Honey Singh, but through this documentary film, you will know who is Hirdesh Singh (the singer’s official name).”
In an event promoting upcoming Netflix releases, the platform gathered Mozez, Honey Singh and Monga for a chat. In a video, Monga says, “I think I met Honey Singh in maybe 2011, 2012 for the first time […] He’s always been ahead of his time. The DJ starts playing Honey Singh, then you know everyone’s going to be on the floor. The documentary is directed by Mozez Singh and Mozez has done a fantastic job.” Mozez adds, “It’s something people have not seen before and I can proudly say that.”
Outside of Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous expected to release in the coming months, the rapper also recently announced his new R&B EP Glory this summer.
