Young Stunners Announce India Debut in December

Pakistani hip-hop duo's Talha Anjum and Talhah Yunus, along with producer Jokhay will perform in Mumbai, New Delhi and Bengaluru

Pakistani hip-hop duo Young Stunners — comprising rappers Talha Anjum and Talhah Yunus — will make their way to India for the first time as part of a three-city tour in December 2024.

Joined by producer Jokhay, the Karachi act have announced three dates so far. Young Stunners are slated to play in Mumbai on Dec. 13, in Bengaluru on Dec. 21 and in New Delhi on Dec. 25. Tickets are expected to go on sale only on Oct. 15.

While fans were directed to register for tickets via Skillbox, the platform has delisted the events after “recent revelations bought [sic] to our notice.” The company, while clarifying that they were not promoters of the event and only a ticketing platform for the Young Stunners India tour, said that “team members [were] being personally targeted.”

Organizers have now chosen a different website for registrations. A recent story from Desi Disco Entertainment says, “This will be happening cause we are ‘asli hai.’ These all fake websites and internet gangsters can’t stop anyone from performing in India.”

Young Stunners have the largest number of monthly listeners on Spotify from Mumbai (152,583 listeners) and New Delhi (a total of over 245,000 listeners including Delhi NCR), but fans have received the news of a major Pakistani artist performing in India with much skepticism.

The tour is being promoted by the relatively unknown Desi Disco Entertainment, who have organized shows in Australia for the most part. After announcing the news yesterday and opening ticket registrations, an update from the promoters said, “We are excited to bring the tour to you and are working hard on the planning process. Please make sure to register yourself on Skillboxes to receive all the latest updates and announcements regarding the tour. The final announcement, including ticket links and venue details, will be shared on October 15th. We appreciate your enthusiasm and can’t wait to provide you with more information soon.”

This tour announcement not only marks the long-awaited India debut of Young Stunners but also the first time India will host a big Pakistani artist after years. Artistic exchanges between India and Pakistan took a backseat following the terrorist attack in Pulwama, Kashmir in 2019.

While things picked back up steadily — especially as Young Stunners became one of the most heard desi hip-hop artists and went on to collaborate with Indian artists including KR$NA, Seedhe Maut members and more — it was the Bombay High Court’s 2023 ruling that rejected a plea to ban Pakistani artists that seems to have encouraged more cross-border projects. The Supreme Court of India also rejected the plea in November 2023.
