Zahrah S. Khan Heads to Mawazine Festival in Morocco

Singer behind Bollywood hits like ‘Kusu Kusu’ from ‘Satyameva Jayate 2’ and ‘The Punjaabban Song’ from ‘Jugjugg Jeeyo’ will join the likes of Kylie Minogue, Nicki Minaj, Burna Boy, Ateez, Camila Cabello and more

British-Indian singer and actor Zahrah S. Khan has announced that she will perform at the comeback edition of Morocco’s Mawazine Festival between Jun. 21 and Jun. 29 in the city of Rabat. She will be joining France-origin, U.S.-based producer and songwriter Alawn on Jun. 23 at OLM Souissi.

Khan, best known for songs like “Kusu Kusu” with Alawn from the movie Satyameva Jayate 2 and “Har Funn Maula” from Koi Jaane Na, has collaborated with hitmakers like Tanishk Bagchi (“Love Stereo Again,” with Romanian artist Edward Maya) and Guru Randhawa (“Dance Meri Rani,” “Ishare Tere”).

The singer told Rolling Stone India in a statement, “I am honored to be the first Indian Bollywood singer to perform at the Mawazine Festival alongside the incredible talent of Alawn. Bringing our collaboration, ‘Kusu Kusu,’ to such a massive stage is a dream come true, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share our music with over 150,000 music lovers from around the world.”

Alawn, for his part, is also performing on the same day as K-pop group ATEEZ at Mawazine Festival. The long-running festival – in action since 2001 – has been steadily bringing in some of the biggest international names to Morocco across multiple venues and days.

Headliners at the festival this year include American rap star Nicki Minaj, Australian pop star Kylie Minogue, Nigerian chart-topper Burna Boy, hip-hop producer Metro Boomin, pop artist Camila Cabello, British hip-hop artist Central Cee and EDM artist Calvin Harris, among others.

Previous editions of Mawazine Festival have been headlined by the likes of Elton John, Kanye West, The Weeknd, Maroon 5, The Scorpions, Rihanna, Shakira, Whitney Houston and more.

Khan, for her part, is balancing music and acting in 2024. Her latest single was the wedding song “Bin Tere” with composer Bagchi and singer Romy and she’ll be seen next in the fantasy actioner Vrushabha, releasing in multiple languages and starring the likes of Malayalam star Mohanlal, Bollywood actor Shanaya Kapoor and more.
