British singer-songwriter Zayn Malik is set to perform in India this August. The former One Direction member is slated to thrill fans in four metro cities.
According to IANS, Vishal Pandey from New Delhi-based tour organizers JPR Events said, “He will kick-start the tour from Mumbai on August 3rd and then head to cities like Kolkata, Hyderabad and Delhi. We are planning to organize his concert in Nepal too.” JPR events has previously brought down Canadian rocker Bryan Adams for a 2011 show in Kathmandu.
Malik released his debut solo album Mind of Mine in 2016 which included the U.K. Number One single “Pillowtalk” and “Like I Would.” This past April, Malik released the upbeat R&B track, “Let Me,” the second single off his upcoming sophomore record. In May, the third single, “Entertainer” was released.
The tour seems to signal that Malik, who has roots in Pakistan, has been warming up to India for a while. Outside of studio work, Malik surprised his fanbase with covers of folk/pop singer Kailash Kher’s “Teri Deewani” and “Allah Ke Bande” posted to Instagram earlier this year. He also told an Indian fashion magazine that he’s working with film music composer A.R. Rahman on a song for a film, singing in Hindi.
