South Korean rapper, singer and producer Zico dropped his brand new single “Seoul Drift” earlier today. The track serves as the lead single of the Block B member’s upcoming album Grown Ass Kid, which releases on July 27th.

Composed and written by Zico, “Seoul Drift” is a Latin-pop influenced synth number about conquering the sadness the world was thrown into due to the pandemic and returning to normal life. The rapper laments the time and moments lost while the globe was in quarantine as he sings, “Bring it back/ Two Christmas Eves/ Flight to Europe cancelled/ Solo concert and fashion week/ Just a red X on the problematic calendar.” He celebrates the return of nightlife, concerts and just meeting people again, adding, “Look at this party baby/ No mask, all naked/ Squirm freely/ Until there is a crack in the earth/ Now we’re safe here.”

The music video begins with Zico lamenting all his cancelled plans — foiled by the pandemic — before he decides to dress up and head out into the night on his bike. A Tron-like sequence follows of him riding through the streets of a digitized, futuristic Seoul, interspersed with shots of him partying at a packed bar and roaming empty streets alone.

“Seoul Drift” is Zico’s first comeback after being discharged from mandatory military service earlier this year. Grown Ass Kid serves as the follow-up to his 2020 releases Random Box and the viral single “Any Song.”
