Amidst vintage decor and a speakeasy style ethos, ZLB23 – located within The Leela Palace in Bengaluru – adds live music to the mix with the gig series Magnetic Music Season 01.

Kicking off on December 5th at ZLB23, the inaugural edition of Magnetic Music has so far hosted international and Indian bands alike. The full lineup that runs on until December 15th included nine bands. So far, the likes of Colombian band Los Rolling Ruanas, Germany’s Essence of Duality, Bengaluru band MoonArra (the resident act at ZLB23), jazz guitarist Gerard Machado and his Quartet, plus Sourav Ghosh Quartet have performed.

Coming up next at Magnetic Music Season 01 are Samantha Pais and the August Quartet, performing at ZLB23 on December 12th. The quartet draws inspiration from jazz greats such as Chet Baker, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and Oscar Peterson, among others, with the hope of assisting the next generation of jazz performers to find their unique voice and raise the bar for themselves.

The next week also sees the Bluegrass Journeymen perform, on December 13th. The Denver, Colorado-origin bluegrass band founded by mandolin player Patrick Fitzsimmons have been regulars in India and are now performing in Bengaluru. While bluegrass music is the focus, you will also hear country, old-time, jazz, swing, and plenty of other influences in their tunes.

Bengaluru-based percussionist Karthik Mani and his group perform at Magnetic Music Season 01 on December 14th, bringing jazz fusion that’s also informed by Carnatic music. The series will come to a close on December 15th with one of the more high-energy acts on the lineup, Mumbai-based trio MaMoGi, which comprises saxophonist Mark Hartsuch, bassist Mohini Dey and drummer Gino Banks. All powerhouse musicians in their own right, MaMoGi are likely to bring Magnetic Music Season 01 to a roaring end.

ZLB23 is housed within The Leela Palace Hotels and Resorts. The company’s area vice president, South India, Madhav Sehgal says in a statement, “Magnetic Music is one of the core pillars at ZLB23. We are committed to relaying original, curated music at an exclusive venue for our discerning guests. While this is just Season 01, in future editions we intend to bring in folk, fusion and other genres to our beloved city.”
