Bengaluru hip-hop star Brodha V follows up his comedic hit “Vainko” by re-enlisting his friends from YouTube duo Jordindian for the video to his new street-smart tune “Basti Bounce.”

In the music video directed by Brodha V along with filmmakers Vivian Ambrose and Sujish Das, the rapper busts a few moves with Jordindian’s Vineeth ‘Beep’ Kumar and Nasser Al Azzeh, as he talks about his journey from being a “chinna paiyyan” (a nobody) to someone who “wore that crown-u.” Lacing it up with typical Kannada and Tamil slang, a lot of Brodha V’s signature charisma and confidence comes through on “Basti Bounce,” whose production brings in the shrill yet unshakeable and infectious keyboard melodies you’d hear in street processions and thumping beats to match. Brodha V says in a statement, “‘Basti Bounce’ is just an overall fun song and [the] intention is to make you groove and dance. We wanted to give our fans something they could recreate if they wanted to because this is something they clearly love and enjoy.”

The dance moves are a nod to 2019’s “Vainko” and even better is Brodha V’s turn acting as the ultimate, scene-stealing referee in an “area fight” between Jordindian, as actor Aishwarya Suresh (who also starred in the “Vainko” video) makes an appearance. Turns out, the area fight is won by Brodha V, who promptly goes on to wear a crown and grin about it.

In a statement, the rapper and producer spoke about teaming up with Jordindian again for the video, “We had fans asking us to come together for a while. We really wanted to make sure we recreated the ‘Vainko’ magic but we did it without being repetitive or boring. ‘Basti Bounce’ was ready and I wanted a concept for it, that is when I thought this would be the perfect way to bring in The Jordindian and create something dynamic. It was very organic and fortuitous the way it all came together and turned out.”

His first release of 2023, Brodha V recently celebrated 10 years of releasing his hit song “Aathma Raama.” He previously released “Forever” with rapper KR$NA and called on actor/creator Niharika NM to star in the music video to his single “Bujjima.”

“There are definitely a few more surprise collaborations to watch out for,” he says about what’s coming up in the year.
