Last week, Mumbai-based multidisciplinary artist Anushka Manchanda aka NUKA released her latest exquisite bilingual track “KASHMIR.” While the song includes Nuka’s poignant vocals over haunting instrumentation, there’s also vocals by Bengaluru rockers Parvaaz’s frontman Khalid Ahamed as well as rabab parts from the young Sufiyan Malik.

With “KASHMIR,” NUKA examines nature and humanity and how the two are connected while also paying tribute to the region. Through the song, the artist sings of the wreckage of nature, reclaiming beauty and its transformation in our perception.

In a statement, NUKA says, “Kashmir feels like the spirit of mother nature, the Earth in her most heartbreakingly beautiful form. I cannot describe in words how I felt in her lap, and it took me years to create a piece that could express my love for the valley. I am an outsider, yet I wept when I was leaving Kashmir. To me, it felt like home.” Ahamed adds, “The musicality and theme in this track had me hooked to it from my first conversation with Anushka. I am excited and humbled to be a part of it.”

NUKA has also teamed up with audio tech giants Dolby Atmos for the song which will include subtleties within the music for a more lasting experience. The artist is also currently prepping for a virtual performance titled SHED MY SKIN scheduled for December 3rd via media platform DiceFM. The set will include unreleased material and feature guests such as rapper Kaam Bhaari, drummer Gautam Deb, keyboardist Utkarsh Dhotekar and Ahamed.
