The Mumbai-based artist brings on ace guitarist Keba Jeremiah to play on the track
Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Abhilash L.R. aka A L R comes to terms with the loss of a beloved family member on his latest track “Reminiscing.”
The spirited yet mournful new release comes on the back of his 2019 single “Under The Sheets” and is Abhilash’s third studio release. “I wrote ‘Reminiscing’ after my grandma passed away and I was trying to process my grief. When I started reading stories about all the people who have lost someone to the pandemic, I decided to share this song, hoping that it would resonate with someone out there,” the artist says.
Over tender guitars and vocals, Abhilash sings openheartedly about cherished memories about his grandmother and leads with the thought that “a loved one is never really lost.” The song was written in Mumbai but recorded in two different places – with Abhilash taking time out of his travels in Himachal to track vocals at Tibet Audio in McLeod Ganj and calling on seasoned guitarist Keba Jeremiah (A.R. Rahman, Sid Sriram) to record with The Audiophile’s School of Sound Engineering in Chennai.
Abhilash worked with producer Mervin T. Thomas in Chennai as well as Tsewang Tharchen in Himachal. The singer-songwriter says, “Due to the lockdown, none of us ever met in person but music brought us together.”
