Bass Camp Expands to 10 Cities This Year

The electronic music festival will see Bristol producer Om Unit's India debut as well as sets from Kutmah, Oceantied, Kumail and more

Electronic music festival Bass Camp is set to return for it’s 16th edition with a 10-city tour starting on November 30th.

As the name indicates, Bass Camp focuses on promoting bass-heavy music and features various artists who specialize in drum and bass, dubstep, glitch-hop and more. It was held every quarter before transitioning into a bigger, annual affair after 2014. This year the festival will head to 10 cities in total, adding Shillong, Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Guwahati to it’s standard itinerary of New Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Goa, Pune and Kolkata.

“The idea is to spread bass music culture to as many cities as possible,” Sohail Arora, founder of Bass Camp and artist management company Krunk, tells Rolling Stone India. “I feel blessed to be part of such a big country and it’s amazing that music can travel to so many places within our country itself.”

Boasting an impressive lineup, Bass Camp will see drum and bass producer Om Unit’s India debut as well as sets from Berlin-based artist Kutmah, Bengaluru’s Oceantied, Mumbai-based producers Kumail and Zokhuma and more. “I am really looking forward to sets by Om Unit, Kutmah, (hip-hop collective) the Soulection family,” says Arora. “I’m quite eager to see how people would react to them.” He adds that he is also hoping to explore hip-hop’s relationship with electronic music by putting a little more focus on MCs this time.

Divided into three legs, the festival kicks off in New Delhi on November 30th before heading to Bengaluru and Mumbai on December 1st and 2nd respectively. The next leg hits Pune on December 3rd, Hyderabad on December 8th and Chandigarh and Guwahati on December 9th. The final leg dates for Goa, Shillong and Kolkata are yet to be announced.
