South Korean pop group BTS revealed the title of their upcoming mini-album via their official fan café last night. Love Yourself 承 ”˜Her’ is set to release on September 18th. The album follows the septet’s last release in February, You Never Walk Alone, and will continue the members’ storylines within their carefully-crafted fictional universe.
BTS hinted at the plot of the Love Yourself series over the last month via a set of cinematic ”˜Highlight Reels’ that feature each of the members’ love stories. The reels are loaded with flashbacks and references to the group’s previous eras The Most Beautiful Moment In Life (2015) and Wings (2016), adding to the three-year long narrative and perpetuating several existing fan theories while completely obliterating others. BTS’ leader Rap Monster told us last month that with each release, the group tries to tell stories that are somewhat rooted in their real lives. “We’re always [discussing] our experiences, our hardships and our sadness and that really helps in coming up with the character in the videos,” he explained.
”˜Her’ will also include a hidden track written and produced by Rap Monster and will have four different versions, all available for preorder starting August 25th. The mini-album is reportedly just the first step of the Love Yourself project which will continue on into 2018.
