While we had the Covelong Point Classic Surf and Music Festival held in Chennai last year and the ongoing two-week second edition of the Music Festival, the city is catching up with the music festival season early this year. The first edition of the Rock Stock festival, organized by Chennai event producers Cloud 9 Entertainment, takes place at Chariot Beach Resort in Mahabalipuram on September 6th.
Rock Stock will include eight performing bands, along with adventure and water sports, game stalls and a fashion show. But considering the lineup, you wouldn’t want to wander off far from the performances. Big draws at the festival include Malayalam rock band Avial, Bengaluru rock band Thermal and a Quarter and Bengaluru-based hard rock/heavy metal band Girish and the Chronicles. Bands representing the local scene include alt rock band Junkyard Groove [who are working to release a new EP], rock ’n roll band Skrat, funk rock band Franks Got The Funk [who recently regrouped as a three-member band] and rock band Between Recess.
