The F16s, Yung Raja, Blot! And More to Perform at Circle of Love Festival in Chennai This Month

The event will take place at the city-based Green Meadows Resort on July 22nd

After hosting its inaugural festival in 2021, Chennai-based music platform Circle of Love are now back with a second edition scheduled for July 22nd, 2023 at the city’s Green Meadows Resort.

The upcoming event is however bittersweet after the loss of Circle of Love founder Sameer Sethi. Chennai indie-rockers The F16s’ frontman and Head of Operations for the festival Joshua Fernandez aka JBABE says, “Circle of Love is the realization of our late founder Sameer Sethi’s vision to uplift the independent music scene.” Festival Director and seasoned DJ Manny aka Manoj Mohan adds, “We continue his legacy by curating an experience that showcases and supports India’s finest independent musicians.”

The organizers explain that putting together a festival of this scale in a city like Chennai that lacks infrastructure and support for independent music and artists is complex and hard. On what they want to set out to achieve, Mohan says, “Our vision is to create a vibrant music community where attendees can discover new acts and fall in love with the incredible talent our country has to offer.”

For their day-long event, Circle of Love have curated a tasty lineup that includes live acts, dance troupes and DJs. The artists on show will feature hometown heroes and Fernandez’s band The F16s (who will be performing in Chennai for the first time in five years), Singapore rapper Yung Raja and New Delhi electronic artist BLOT! Also on the bill are Pune laidback/soul listening band Easy Wanderlings, Bengaluru DJ Vachan Chinnappa, producer 8-Bit Culprit, techno artist Bahaar Kaur as well as singer-songwriters Dohnraj and STEVIE, among others.

Fernandez says, “Curating the lineup was a complex endeavor, considering the diverse nature of our festival. We took into account multiple factors, including the community’s preferences, to carefully select performers who would create the perfect musical experience throughout the day.”

Away from the music, Circle of Love Festival is also set to showcase an artisan market, various pop-ups, curated listening sessions, a gaming lounge, art installations, workshops, dance performances, as well as a diverse selection of food and beverages to choose from. “It’s a multi-dimensional festival experience,” says Mohan. Fernandez adds, “[Attendees can expect] a festival and community where love takes center stage.”
