Delhi band Jester release new single
Also have an EP in the works
Delhi pop rockers Jester kicked off the year by releasing their single “Big Bad Wolf” and by chalking a plan to tour more. The five-member group, which was formed in 2008 when its members were still in college, was mostly seen and heard on Delhi campuses in its early years. “We managed to play every gig possible in Delhi, but also traveled to Hyderabad and Lucknow,” says Pranav Pahwa, the band’s guitarist and self-appointed manager. The band took a year off to study music, regrouping last year to work on new material and recently performed at the Hornbill National Rock Contest in Kohima. “Hornbill was a big letdown because we played a very good set of all originals and some of the bands that made it into the finals played covers,” says Pahwa, “The results were quite iffy.”
Jester hopes to perform at two prominent Delhi venues, The Living Room and Blue Frog, next month to test out “Big Bad Wolf” and the rest of their new tracks. “We have about eight new originals,” says Pahwa. Five of these excluding “Big Bad Wolf” will make it onto a new EP, which is being produced by Skyharbor guitarist Keshav Dhar, slated to release at the end of March. Jester includes Dhruv Goel on vocals, Pahwa on lead guitar, Shantanu Sudarshan on drums, Akshay Dwivedi on bass and Harshit Jain on keys.
