We recently caught up with Mumbai rapper D’Evil and discussed his journey coming up in the Indian hip-hop scene, his performance at the Rolling Stone India Hennessy Freestyle Concert and what he has coming up in the foreseeable future. Read excerpts below:
What’s it been like for you guys over the years coming up in the hip-hop scene in India?
It was more about bringing the hip-hop scene up. We came up unknowingly. And the journey was about bringing together a community of hip-hop artists and creating something for the people. It was fun, challenging and life-altering for us.
What have you noticed within the hip-hop community that’s different now from when you started out?
The new generation have a lot of help and opportunities now. There are better music platforms, better technology, better audience and more live shows.
What was your experience like performing at the Rolling Stone India Hennessy Freestyle Concert?
It was fun to reunite with Rolling Stone India and all my other co-rapper friends. Loved all the support from our fans and it was a fulfilling day.
What are you currently working on and what’s coming up next?
We are just having fun right now making music and have plans to bring some groundbreaking changes in the hip-hop routine.
