Exclusive Premiere: Metallers Godless Dive Into Apocalyptic World at War in ‘Post-Cryogenic’ Video

The Hyderabad/Bengaluru thrash/death metal band are set to perform in Dubai and at comeback edition of Bangalore Open Air in April

Metal band Godless call on their longtime video collaborator and 3D artist Daniel Sharma to paint the portrait of a world destroyed by religious wars in the visual for their song “Post-Cryogenic.” Taken from their 2021 album States Of Chaos, the thrash/death metallers end-times lyrics are rendered in 3D by Sharma, with aptly eerie red and orange hues of devastation.

Vocalist Kaushal L.S. says the visuals for “Post-Cryogenic” simply follow the lyrics. He adds, “‘Post-Cryogenic’ speaks of a dystopia where the world has been destroyed by religious wars and humans are almost on the brink of extinction – seen through the eyes of someone who wakes up from deep cryo sleep several years into the future.”

References to sci-fi and the present-day world of religious fanaticism included, Kaushal says Sharma kept sending in test renders, with Godless having just a few minor inputs for the video. The video maker has previously edited Godless’ video for “Cormorant,” and worked on lyric videos and infernal visual for “Netherworld,” the first single in 2021 off States Of Chaos.

On the back of releasing the music video, Godless are heading to Dubai for their first ever show in the United Arab Emirates on March 11th. They’re joined on the lineup by local rock and metal bands Riot Fist, Mandirigma, Iconoklash and Tribe Conspiracy. Bassist and band manager Abbas Razvi says playing in Dubai has been on the cards for a while. “We’ve got a bunch of listeners from the U.A.E. and also were in talks with promoters for quite a while but our band name seemed to pose a challenge. This time around, the promoter figured a way to make it work. We look forward to bringing our music to a new audience,” he adds.

Following that show, they’re set to perform at the comeback edition of metal festival Bangalore Open Air on April 1st, joining the likes of black metal legends Mayhem, modern metal act Born of Osiris, Dutch death metal band Pestilence and more Indian acts. Razvi says they’re also planning a tour mid-year. “We’ve already started the process of writing music for our next record so we will be focusing more on that later in the year,” the bassist adds.
