Exclusive Premiere: Abdon Mech Enchants on ‘Carpe Diem’ for The Resound Gathering
The cozy performance from the Dimapur singer-songwriter is the first offering from the weekly live video series
With an eye on reminding people about the joys of a living room gig, digital platform Resound Magazine kickstart their new live video performance series The Resound Gathering, led by Dimapur singer-songwriter Abdon Mech and his band crooning the comforting song “Carpe Diem.”
In the works since June last year — just one month after Resound was founded — Mech’s performance was one among four artists picked for the inaugural season of The Resound Gathering. A spokesperson for the platform says in a statement, “The pandemic had taught us the importance or value of the digital platform to enjoy art from homes, during a period of isolation.”
Faultless and comforting, Mech and his band — comprising bassist Augustine Eliem, percussionist-drummer Theja Khate and lead guitarist Kevisa Vivose — recorded “Carpe Diem” in October. In an indicator of quality, Resound partnered with the music cafe Room 03, recording studio Element Indie Records and Ozuki studios, plus they got onboard music platform Kadence and GreenPark Adventures.
The organizers say in their statement that finding sponsors remained a struggle, so they also started a fundraising campaign and ticketed the show. “A lot of support came through these. However, we are still open for contributions, support and sponsors to meet the costs and plan season two of The Resound Gathering. We’d love sponsors to reach out to us if they like our concept.”
Season one, for its part, will see weekly performances uploaded until mid-February. The lineup includes artists such as Mech, Temsu Clover, Kekhrie Ringa (who released her debut record Boheme in December) and Kevin Saka.
