Exclusive Premiere: See Srihari Jagannathan’s Simple Illustration For ‘Intezaar’ Lyric Video
The song is off the Tamil Nadu composer-producer’s recently released two-track EP of the same name
Tamil Nadu composer-producer Srihari Jagannathan – who also fronts alt-pop group Chennai Street Band – recently released his debut solo two-song EP titled Intezaar. Now, the musician is out with a quaint lyric video for the record’s title track.
With lyrics by Kajinder Srivatsava, Jagannathan’s timber voice flows well with harmonies created by singer Lavita Lobo over ambient instrumentation. On the song, Jagannathan says, “The one thing that I really miss due to the ongoing pandemic and lockdown is sitting by beaches and looking at sunsets.” He adds, “Every time I sit there and gaze through the ocean, I come back with a visual and an emotion that stays with me. In ‘Intezaar’ I try to explore these.”
Jagannathan explains that he’s always been a fan of illustrations and artwork, therefore decided to create a lyric video in that form. With help from illustrator Danny Jose and videographer Susindran as well as Chennai-based Celluloid Films’ editor Dinesh Mathikumar, the musician was able to put together quite an emotive clip. He says, “The lyric video has a guy who is with a guitar on the beach late through the night. There is just the campfire, beach and him. The mood of the beach at night and his feeling of anticipation is what we have tried to capture with the video there.”
Due to the pandemic, Jagannathan invested in a mini home studio to record and produce the EP. The artist also collaborated with musicians who had similar setups in their respective homes. “That’s why it’s extra special,” he says. Next, Jagannathan is readying one more single for his solo project before he shifts his attention to working on Chennai Street Band’s forthcoming new EP.
