Gig Preview: Klypp, Your Chin to Perform at Bonobo, Mumbai
The Bengaluru electronica band are joined by electronica act Your Chin for their Mumbai debut this Saturday
Earlier this year, Karthik Basker, frontman of the now defunct Bengaluru psychedelic/alternative band The Bicycle Days, announced his own solo material and an EP with Klypp ”“ his electronica side project with Bengaluru psychedelic/chill out producer Faheem Hasan. This month, the duo released their debut EP Manifest, performed at Covelong Point Surf Festival in Kovalamand are now making their way to Mumbai for their first gig in the city. Says Basker, “We’re brand new so we have to build a fan base. Bombay is a place where people really get out and watch gigs, so we’re excited.”
Klypp’s set will consist of songs from Manifest, including “Thoughts” and “Weather,” as well as “about three or four EPs worth” of new, unreleased material. The duo are also putting the finishing touches on their first music video for their track “Be,” which conceptually revolves around a road trip and what a person would do when they don’t have to do anything. Says Basker, “It’s slow, peaceful, trippy. You’d probably connect it with a Sunday afternoon.”
Klypp will be supported by Mumbai band Sky Rabbit vocalist Raxit Tewari’s electro side project Your Chin. Tewari’s set will consist of songs from his last two EPS, Your Chin and Scatter Nature, as well as a new track “Fighting The Sumo” which he recently premiered in Bengaluru. Says the producer, “There are also a few new tracks that I’ve been baking, but nothing that is really ready yet.” Your Chin has two music videos in the pipeline for his tracks “Who Would Have Thought” which will release mid-October and “Fingerprints & Mugshots” which is slated to release later this year. Says Tewari, “The first video is a quirky take on what a musician does when he’s not making music.”
