Godless Set for Debut Europe Tour

Just over a year since their European debut at Germany’s metal festival Wacken Open Air, Hyderabad death/thrash metal band Godless are kicking off a month-long Swarm Over Europe tour, from September 7th in Germany through to September 30th in Belgium.

A major chunk of the bookings and setup was made by touring partners, Kiel, Germany-based death metal duo Divide’s drummer Moritz Paulsen. Godless bassist Abbas Razvi says, “They’re a lot more familiar with the territory and have quite a few contacts, so they mapped out the route and the shows. We did end up booking a minor chunk of the shows though.”

Even though they did make a mark at Wacken, Razvi admits they’re looking to “build a fanbase from scratch” with a run of 18 shows across Germany, Denmark, Poland, Switzerland, France, Netherlands and Belgium. “We have received messages from people who have heard of us and are looking forward to watching us live, but we are keeping our expectations realistic and just trying to put on a good show every night,” the bassist and founder says.

While Godless have been unrelenting in their touring and shows in India (including their Eviscerating India tour with Mumbai brutal death metal band Gutslit earlier this year), there’s a lot more work going into the Europe tour. The band only has a handful of days off between shows. Razvi adds, “Playing back-to-back shows in Europe will be totally different from India though, because we would be able to get in a good night’s sleep in Europe.”

While the bassist and vocalist Kaushal L.S. (vocalist for Gutslit) have had a few years of touring experience, the rest of the members of Godless – drummer Aniketh Yadav and guitarists Rohit Nidamarthy and new recruit Moiz Mustafa – are new to it and looking out for each other. Razvi says with a laugh, “We’ll have to try and keep our alcohol consumption to a minimum.”

After their return, there’s “a couple of really exciting shows on the verge of being announced for 2019” for Godless. Razvi adds, “We’ll be back to continue songwriting for our next record which we are aiming at releasing towards the end of 2020 or maybe early 2021.”
