Four Holi-Themed Music Festivals To Look Out For Tomorrow
From Belgian electronica to good ol’ blues, these colorful festivals have got it all covered
If there’s anything that Nucleya proved in 2015, it’s that mashing up electronica with Bollywood and all things inherently Indian is a foolproof way to get the masses grooving. And although the music producer himself isn’t repeating his visarjan-sized success at a Holi party anywhere tomorrow, there are plenty of other artists [electronica and otherwise] all set to kick-start the party across India. Regardless of whether you’re actually a Holi enthusiast or festival freak, these day-long gigs promise to kick up a storm of color and chaos with equally entertaining music.
Holi Moo! Festival, Jhankar Lawns, New Delhi
The country’s biggest and longest-running Holi-centric music festival is back with its tenth edition with a lineup of over 40 artists across four stages and 10 hours. Formerly known as Holi Cow Festival, the Delhi-based day-long event is hosting the likes of German multi-instrumentalist and “one-man jam” Rico Loop, Mumbai blues band Kanchan Daniel & the Beards, electronica act Curtain Blue and many more.

High Holi Festival, The High Spirits, Pune
Pune’s favorite performance venue is trading in its infamous cookouts for a day-long Holi party with this year’s edition of High Holi Festival. The High is even going the environment-friendly route by providing their own color to attendees, and skipping the waterworks in favor of a dry Holi. Performances by electronica artists such as trap producer Su Real, Madboy aka Imaad Shah, rap band Mauj Maharaja, Reggae Rajahs and MojoJojo and the festival’s sold-out status points towards nothing short of a potential color riot.

Holi Reloaded, Kamalistan Studio (Mumbai) and Executive Club (New Delhi)
The third edition of the electronica gig series is bringing down international artists like Belgian duo Wolfpack and Belgian DJ Makasi for the Mumbai and Delhi editions of the festival respectively. Other local acts on the Mumbai lineup include techno artist Clement, bass producer Sound Avtar and house DJ Ankytrixx. The Delhi edition includes progressive house DJ Mash, dance duo Progressive Brothers and deep house act Rave and Crave.

Rang 2016, 32nd Milestone, New Delhi
Holi Moo’s strongest contender this year seems to be the third edition of Rang festival, which is bringing down its fair share of international acts ranging from Beckers of German electronica duo D-Nox and Beckers to Spanish psychedelic producer Hypnoise, and from German/Goan techno artist Breger to Hungarian musician Ruizsierra. Local electronica acts on the lineup include veteran techno/psy trance producer Calm Chor, Murklin and Bass Pilots.
