Incubus, Marshmello to Headline Vh1 Supersonic 2018
The music festival makes the big leap into multi-genre territory with its Phase One lineup announcement
While Vh1 Supersonic made a move towards going from EDM to multi-genre this year with Macklemore as a headliner, it would seem that the music festival is finally ready to make the leap on a bigger scale in 2018.
The addition of pop-dancehall trio Major Lazer and English indie rock band Alt-J as headliners for the 2018 edition both made significant waves earlier this year, but today’s reveal possibly tops them both; American rock band Incubus will make their big India debut at the fest. “We’ve been dreaming about making music in India for decades,” shared frontman Brandon Boyd in a statement. “The opportunity to play there has always felt like it was almost always out of reach, so now that it is real and we’re coming to India, I can’t express enough how excited and elated we are.”
Incubus initially shot to fame in 2000 with the super-hit single “Drive” and captured the world’s attention with their expansive discography. The band have been known to experiment with several genres including nu-metal, alt rock, jazz, electronica, funk, hip-hop, thrash metal, post-grunge and more.
Prog house producer Marshmello makes a much-anticipated return to India to round-off the headliners for Phase One, while Dillon Francis and Joseph Capriati tease ‘special guest’ appearances.
Indie dream-pop duo Parekh & Singh and Mumbai electro-rockers Donn Bhatt + Passenger Revelator are unexpected additions from Indian shores, adding more variety to a lineup that consists of electronic producers like Kohra, Arjun Vagale, DJ Sa, Su Real, Sound Avatar and more.
