One of the leading guitarists in modern progressive metal since the Nineties, Washington-based shredder Jeff Loomis will make his India debut with a four-city solo tour between December 9th and 12th. The announcement arrives after speculation amongst promoters in the country all through the past month.

Jeff Loomis’ Conquering India Tour kicks off on December 9th in Guwahati, followed by a yet-to-be confirmed show on December 10th, a set in Bengaluru on December 11th and closing off in New Delhi on December 12th. Venue and ticket details are yet to be announced.

In the works since August this year, the tour is organized by New Delhi-based company Neon Black Productions ”“ led by Kunal Batra and Mayur Jalan ”“ with help from local organizers in each city. Co-founder Jalan says, “Jeff is a household name when it comes to guitarists and has a considerable fan base in India. So working on this was no less than a dream come true for us and we’re excited to present this. Jeff will be playing his solo material along with a few numbers from his other act Conquering Dystopia and also his former band Nevermore.”

Loomis is best known for his work with American prog metal act Nevermore, of which he was a part of between 1992 until its dissolution in 2011. Most recently, the guitarist made news when he was announced to join Swedish melodic death metallers Arch Enemy in 2014.

Since 2005, however, Loomis’s solo work drew him a chunk of the modern prog/djent audience, touring with prog bands such as Protest the Hero and Periphery. While his solo band once included Washington-based drummer Anup Sastry (formerly of prog metallers Skyharbor, Intervals and Monuments), Loomis will be performing as a one-man act for his India tour.
