The first edition of the OnePlus Music Festival (OPMF) is just around the corner. Created by the mobile technology giant OnePlus, the company aims to build a niche space for community and music enthusiasts to come together to see their favourite acts and discover new music. Headlined by American pop star Katy Perry and featuring British pop breakout Dua Lipa, the one-day music festival takes  place this Saturday, November 16th at Navi Mumbai’s D.Y. Patil Stadium. The event marks Perry’s second performance (after her 2012 opening set at the Indian Premier League held in Chennai) in the country and Lipa’s debut in India.

For its inaugural edition, OPMF’s lineup also features a slate of eclectic Indian artists. On the bill are Pune electronica artist Ritviz, New Delhi rockers The Local Train, Bollywood music director and vocalist Amit Trivedi and Post-rock band Aswekeepsearching.

With acts across the genres of pop, rock, electronica and folk, the OPMF aims to offer festival goers a unique experience beyond OnePlus’ product offerings and cement a bond with fans of music in India.

OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei told Rolling Stone India in an exclusive interview, “When it comes to finding a unique way to celebrate with our community and bring everyone together, hosting a music festival immediately came to our mind. Going forward, we’d like to continue what we’re doing with our community by creating memorable and meaningful experiences for them through tech, music and beyond. This is just the beginning of our experiment that would lead to bigger things in the future.” Pei also teased that headliners and acts at future editions of the festival would be decided on the basis of the community’s call.

About performing at the festival, Headliner Perry, who is also our November cover star, said, “It’s been a moment since I’ve been there [India], so I’m excited to play some new songs, and bring some new magic to the stage, specifically for my Indian KatyCats on this night.” She added, “I’m excited to put on a great show for my most patient Indian fans.”

The OnePlus Music Festival takes place on November 16th. Ticket prices start at Rs. 3750 and go up to Rs. 60000. Book them here.
