MC Stan has dropped a new song off his upcoming album Mehfeel, the aptly fast-paced “911 Porsche.”

Although it’s not the best time for the words “Pune” and “Porsche” to be written in another context, MC Stan owns like it always does, treating the release as a mere (and perhaps unfortunate) coincidence. He prefaces the music video with a note to fans, “This song was recorded and written over six months ago. I deeply request everyone to not draw any parallels. Don’t drink and drive, be safe.”

As much as we’re here for the rapper’s gritty, no-holds-barred flow he first championed on his debut album Tadipaar in 2020, there’s also the unnecessary use of the n-word in “911 Porsche” that we just can’t condone, coming from any Indian rapper, much less one of the country’s most famous ones.

That said, “911 Porsche” still uncovers a lot more ground realities that Stan is known to veer into when it comes to storytelling through his rap – “India mein rehte toh puchho mat caste” (If you live India, don’t ask about caste) being a powerful one. In his second verse, he raps, “Terko gareeb log jab upar jaate achha nahi lagta” (You don’t like it when poor people move up in life). It’s these socially-conscious rhymes peppered between tales of pleasure-seeking thrills that make “911 Porsche” quintessential Stan.

He says in a statement, “For my fans it’s like a festival every time I drop something new.” He adds about comments that called “911 Porsche” a throwback to his Tadipaar days, “Old Stan, new Stan—everyone’s here. I gained a new fanbase post-Bigg Boss who might get confused between the old and new Stan. My day-one fans know how I’ve been since the start and that I’ve always kept it real.”

In a press release, Stan goes on to mention that everyone jumps in to check out his music, regardless of their opinion about the Pune rapper. “My fans are crazy, even my haters are excited about what I’m up to or keep waiting to see what I’m going to do next. The whole market keeps its eyes on me because everyone knows they can’t expect the normal from me, and they’ll get to learn something new from my songs. It’s a great feeling to have such a loving and crazy fanbase at the same time.”

Since teasing his upcoming third album Mehfeel – the follow-up to Insaan from 2022 – MC Stan has released singles like “Nusta Paisa” last year and songs like “Meri Zindagi Rap Se Pan Deep Hai” and “Numb.”
