The track has been produced by U.S.-based artists Fki 1st and Justin Rose

Since releasing her two-track debut EP Back & Forth in 2022, singer-songwriter, model, actress, writer and DJ Naisha Bhargabi – who goes by her first name as an artist – moved from Mumbai to Los Angeles after being signed to modeling agency LA Models. She says, “It’s definitely been a journey just setting myself up and starting from scratch in a different country.” While in L.A., Naisha has continued to DJ and has also been working on new music too. The artist recently released her latest R&B/Afropop single, “Wallah,” produced by Fki 1st and Justin Rose.

In this interview with Rolling Stone India, Naisha talks to us about the new song, the track’s upcoming video and her future plans. Read below.

When did you write “Wallah” and what can you tell us about the song?

‘Wallah’ was a very impromptu record, out of all the stuff I have been working on ‘Wallah’ just came super naturally. We were in the studio 1st, Justin and me and it just kind of flew so easy almost like a spontaneous freestyle amongst us. I wanted to make a summer tune and it’s more so about feeling yourself, a self-love type of vibe. I try to stray away from negative or forlorn love songs. Those are always fun to write, but I think this is more of a challenge. And I wanted to make this for all the baddies around the world, it’s super light and breezy.

Do you have any visuals planned for this track?

With this release I’m being super spontaneous as it’s summer and just being an independent artist for now I have that freedom. So we definitely have a fire music video shot here in L.A. and I want to drop it soon but I want the song to get its own space too without a face to it. I’m not sure when I’m dropping it but definitely it’s going to be coming out in the next few weeks.

What else are you currently working on?

I’m working on multiple projects together including my album. That work never stops. It’s just about packaging the right records at the right time, but there’s a lot of music in the works and I can’t wait to share it with the world.
