Listen to the latest releases from independent acts
rinaldo – “darling”
Goa-based singer-songwriter Rinaldo D’souza – who goes by his first name – is now out with his sophomore single, the sensual “darling,” six years on since releasing his debut single in the shape of the poignant “Come Over.” The musician – who previously helmed rhythm guitar duties for Mumbai blues-rockers The Tripp – offers a laidback R&B pop sound on his new slow burner which is filled with plenty of sonic embellishments, crooning vocals and pleasing harmonies.
Piya Podder – “Fool of Myself”
New Delhi-based singer-songwriter Piya Podder’s latest offering is the pop-leaning track entitled “Fool of Myself.” The track features a booming bassline while drums, guitar as well Podder’s delicate vocals fill up the sound. In a statement, the artist said, “The lyrics of the song stem from a place of insecurity, of loving somebody much more than they love you, which could potentially lead to heartbreak.”
Space Hydra – “Of Planet”
Bengaluru electronic alt-rock band Space Hydra gets innovative on their energetic new song “Of Planet.” The track includes a stomping drum groove, melodic and distorted guitar hooks, a punchy bassline as well as voice samples. In a statement, the band said, “’Of Planet’ talks about conservation of nature and the planet. Featuring chopped samples of Carl Sagan’s voice and inspired by his philosophy, the song establishes the almost insignificant and futile nature of human greed in the larger context of an expanding universe.”
Ash Andrade, Bevvibez – “Summer”
With temperatures rising around parts of India, Goa-based artist Ash Andrade is out with the aptly titled dance track “Summer.” Produced by Bevvibez, the track includes pop elements, polished soundscapes, Andrade’s passioned vocals and more.
