If Wooga Squad IN THE SOOP: Friendcation has left you craving for more, then here comes Youth MT – the upcoming Korean reality travel show, a TVING original with a dream ensemble. Well-known South Korean television director Kim Seong-yoon’s brainchild, Youth MT will star cast members of television series he has previously helmed, Love in the Moonlight, Itaewon Class and The Sound of Magic. Need I say more? You know what’s in store for you, right? If you wanted to see K-drama superstars and your favorite Hallyu stars bond together in a frame while getting up close and personal, then your wait ends here.

Take a note of the artist lineup below:

  • Love in the Moonlight will feature Park Bo-gum, Kim Yoo-jung, Jung Jin-young, Kwak Dong-yeon and Chae Soo-bin.
  • Itaewon Class includes Park Seo-joon, Ahn Bo-hyun, Kwon Nara, Ryu Kyung-soo, and Lee Joo-young.
  • The Sound of Magic will have Ji Chang-wook, Choi Sung-eun, Hwang In-yeop, Ji Hae-won, and Kim Bo-yoon.

The primary focus of the show is on South Korean membership training (MT), which fosters teacher-student engagement in a variety of situations. It is a bonding and relationship-building exercise for college and university students who are in the same academic year or department. The event is frequently held during the start of the academic session when there is a significant influx of new students.

According to insiders, Youth MT will explore the idea of MT while featuring candid shots of the actors mingling with each other at a personal level. They will engage in a host of fun activities such as MT games in order to present a plethora of beautiful moments for the viewers to enjoy. More than anything, I want to see how Park Seo-joon, Ji Chang-wook, and Park Bo-gum, the top three names on the cast list, get along.

Typically, participants in a membership training program travel to a remote location. Group tasks are conducted after meals to encourage more solidarity among the members. The games that are played usually include quizzes, cross-dressing, and couple activities. It will be interesting to see how in Youth MT, director Kim integrates his distinct aesthetic with the fundamental idea of membership training. The ambiguity surrounding what is real and what isn’t, in my opinion, is what draws people to reality shows. In that sense, Youth MT is already undeniably a hit. As a devotee of K-dramas, I think seeing the actors take on regular roles will give the show’s segments more credibility.

The “Moonlight Dating” activity, in which a girl and a boy are driven to accomplish fun tasks outside under the moonlight, is one of the many distinguishing characteristics of MT events. I hope the show incorporates this exercise. Given that it also stars Kim Yoo-jung, Chae Soo-bin, Choi Seung-yoon, Ahn Bo-hyun, Kwak Dong-yeon and Hwang In-yeop, couple activities will undoubtedly enhance the viewing experience. Let’s not forget singer-actress Kwon Nara. Her presence in the show may result in some musical performances as well.

While celebrity-based travel reality initiatives are nothing new, and the Korean entertainment industry has already created a number of such ventures, what sets Youth MT apart is its creative, exceptional cast. So, get ready to keep up with the K-drama stars as you enter a world of limitless entertainment with your favorites getting real on Youth MT. The show is slated to premiere on TVING on the 9th of September.
