What a night. WHAT A NIGHT! The 7th Jack Daniel’s Rock Awards was bigger and better this year. We had a brand new venue – stage 3 at Mehboob Studios in Mumbai and stellar performances from some great acts – Indus Creed (performing songs from their first album in sixteen years!), Ankur & The Ghalat Family (with Ankur Tewari stepping off stage and walking into the audience) and Sky Rabbit (nominated in four categories).

Shillong folk legend Lou Majaw was the recepient of the ‘Years of Excellence Award’ and the late Amit Saigal was honored for his contribution and dedication to the cause of independent music in India.

The big story of the night though had to be Mumbai indie godfathers Pentagram sweeping the awards with six wins including the Big Three – Best Band, Best Album and Best Song – all voted for by the fans. In addition, Pentagram also took home a first ever Rs. five lakh cheque for winning the Best Band category.
