July 21st was a date marked by metalheads in Mumbai and in Delhi. While hardcore band Scribe, metalcore band Alien Sky Cult, groove/tech metallers Artillerie and prog metal band Guillotine played at the metal night in Delhi, Mumbai was treated to the launch of black metal band Cosmic Infusion’s debut EP, along with heavy sets by groove metallers Providence and thrash/groove metal band Zygnema at Blue Frog.

Sunneith Revankar, vocalist of Mumbai metal band Bhayanak Maut, provided vocals for both, Providence and Zygnema, shredding his throat out from start to finish. Starting off with Providence’s 30-minute set, including “Prosthetic,” “Watch Them Fall” as well as covers of Sepultura’s “Spit” and Slipknot’s “The Heretic Anthem,” Revankar took a breather while Cosmic Infusion launched their self-titled EP, [they played all songs from their five-track release] and got back on stage with Zygnema, filling in for vocalist Jimmy Bhore, who was injured in an accident last month. Zygnema tore through Revankar-led versions of “Scarface,” “Machine Stage Hibernation” and “Shell Broken, Hell Loose”. “Fuck you for writing so many words,” Revankar joked to Bhore, who was present at the venue. Later Revankar got him and Bhayanak Maut vocalist Vinay Venkatesh on stage towards the end of Zygnema’s set, covering Pantera’s “Slaughter” with a triple vocal assault.
