Plague Throat Kick Off Decimation Tour This Week

The Shillong death metallers stop by new and favored territories on the first tour since the release of their debut full-length ‘The Human Paradox’

To celebrate their 10th year of existence, Shillong death metal trio Plague Throat will head out to five cities between March 17th and April 1st as part of the Decimation Tour, promoting their 2017 album The Human Paradox.

While the last year wasn’t as active as they would have wanted, frontman Nangsan Lyngwa says they’re glad to get back on the road. He says about teaming up with Bengaluru-based Harsha Vardhan of Proximity Productions, “I was planning a tour before and after the album launch. It never worked out. We met the [Kerala thrash metal band] Chaos guys at [crowdfunded gig series] Control Alt Delete and said let’s do a tour together. In the beginning of the year, Harsha called me and asked if he can help with the tour. Of course, I had to say yes, because doing it alone, it’s hectic.”

The band will travel through familiar cities such as New Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai, but also head to Indore and Jorhat for the first time (for a college gig, no less). Lyngwa says about playing new territories, “There are people who have been messaging us over the years in Indore and we’re glad it’s finally happening.”

The tour is more or less to cover for any lost momentum since the launch of The Human Paradox, but Plague Throat ”“ who represented India at the Wacken Metal Battle competition at Wacken Open Air, Germany in 2014 and have now signed to a German management agency ”“ are already forging ahead. Lyngwa says, “We have been writing, actually, for our next EP or album. We might be recording just after this tour. Since it’s our 10th anniversary, we’ve made it our purpose to put out something new. It’s not enough with The Human Paradox, we want to do more.”
