The pop and EDM worlds have collided before, but the combination is a first for Sarthak Sardana aka Sartek, the New Delhi producer who has released his first single with Sony Music Worldwide. The peppy, exuberant pop track “Jump Right After You” featuring Guatemalan producer Ale Q, which released earlier this month, gives Sartek the distinction of being one of the first Indian electronic producers to sign to a majorlike Sony Worldwide.

“It’s a pop track with a happy feel to it and it’s a perfect all-day track,” Sartek says. The producer e-met Ale Q via Twitter and started a conversation that led to their collaboration. Sartek adds, “We appreciated each other’s music styles and decided we had to work together. Once we heard the vocals, I sat down and came up with a melody which was further built upon by him. We had long Skype sessions before we finalized on the hook of the track.”

A gleaming Sartek, who has been releasing material since 2009 on labels run by top EDM artists ranging from Tiesto’s Magik Muzik to Armin Van Buuren’s co-founded Armada Music and most notably, Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings. Turns out, signing to release tracks on a majordoesn’t mean Sartek will stop pushing his music out on other labels. He explains, “The best part about being a musician in this age is to work with as many labels as one wants too. Each label has its own typical sound which it promotes. On Revealed, I tend to do tracks which are high-energy and made for dance floors and festivals, while with Sony I’ve released a mellow, radio friendly stuff.”

Sartek celebrates with his Revealed labelmates this week, with a showcase as part of monthly gig series Awestrung. Sartek will take to the deck alongside the likes of house/progressive artist Kill the Buzz, Dutch electro producer Sandro Silva and house artist Chocolate Puma at High Street Phoenix in Mumbai. Sartek says about his performance, “My set will include most of my original productions from ”˜Backed Up’ to ”˜Don’t Need Love’ and lot of newly released tunes in 2017 including ”˜Jump Right After You.’”

Also in the pipeline for Sartek, a collaboration with “a legendary Dutch DJ” that he can’t spill any more details about just yet. Considering that the Dutch DJ pool is pretty big now, all we can know is that it’s yet another global connection for the Indian DJ.

The Revealed Showcase takes place on February 24th at High Street Phoenix, Lower Parel, Mumbai. Event details here.
