The track is off the Bengaluru/Gurugram producer’s recently released five-track debut EP ‘Dream Caching’
While he was in Bengaluru, producer Polymancer used to cover a lot of artists from the electronica and dream pop space, including American singer-songwriter Jeremy Zucker and Irish artist EDEN. However, once he returned to his home in Gurugram earlier this year, the artist decided to chip away at the sonic ideas marinating in his head. “I decided to go for it and release an EP,” he says. Without wasting much time the producer has gone and dropped his debut five-track record titled Dream Caching.
The EP revolves around growing from past worries and moving towards newer situations. Polymancer says, “It may end up being a slow, maybe painful process. But change is positive, and time always helps you grow.” The record includes dark sonic tones, the artist’s low vocal approach and indulgent production. “I’d say the release is particularly close to my heart because of the place I mentally was in at the time of writing the songs,” he says.
The record’s moody opener “I Can’t Sleep” has also been given a visual to accompany it. The clip – that has been directed, scripted and produced by Gurugram videographers Garvit Narula, Hardik Pahwa and Yaman Nidhi – sees Polymancer starting his day at an odd hour due to his sleep cycle going for a toss. He says, “The song was made over many weeks, staying up so late into the night that my entire sleep schedule had reversed. It’s quite funny to think of.”
Throughout the pandemic, Polymancer has worked on building his production skills and started an independent label while also ideating for his next round of singles and an EP which he plans on releasing in 2021. Apart from that, there are collaborations coming up with artists from across the country such as Purple Patch, Moses with Guns and the Sublime Collective. He says, “I can’t wait to show everyone what I’ve been working on.”
