UK Rock Trio The Virginmarys to Tour India
The band, who draw from punk and Brit rock of the Seventies, will perform in three cities this week
With international artists touring all parts of the country this month, adding to it are UK rock band The Virginmarys, who are performing in India this week as part of the live music gig series Emerge, which hosted German rock act Go Go Berlin last month.
The Virginmarys play at Emerge in Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai between December 12th and 14th. The three-member band, comprising vocalist Ally Dickaty, drummer Danny Dolan and bassist Matt Rose, was formed in 2006 and have performed at UK’s Download Festival in 2010 and toured alongside hard rock guitarist Slash and American rock band Queens of the Stone Age. After releasing a number of EPs and mini-albums between 2010 and 2012, The Virginmarys released their debut album King of Conflict in 2013. They’re bringing all their material, including set staple and lead single, “Dead Man’s Shoes,” which was their breakout track in the US, charting on the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks in 2012.
At Emerge, The Virginmarys will be supported at their Mumbai gig on December 13th at Hard Rock Café, Worli, by local alt rock act Last Remaining Light, led by vocalist Siddharth Basrur. Chennai-based rockers Skrat, who recently released their album The Queen, will play alongside The Virginmarys at Hard Rock Cafe Bengaluru on December 12th and at Hauz Khas Social, New Delhi on December 14th.
