U.K. Artist Anne-Marie, Nigeria’s CKay, OAFF & Savera and More Set for Vh1 Supersonic 2023
The comeback edition of the festival in Pune will also host regulars like Prateek Kuhad, DIVINE, Anuv Jain, Farhan Akhtar and more
After three years away, the return of three-day music festival Vh1 Supersonic has announced international headliners such as U.K. pop artist Anne-Marie, Nigerian star CKay (best known for his song “Love Nwantiti”) and bankable Indian artists like singer-songwriter Prateek Kuhad, rap star DIVINE, singer-songwriter Anuv Jain, singer-actor Farhan Akhtar and the live debut of composer-producer and composer-singer duo OAFF aka Kabeer Kathpalia and Savera Mehta.
The comeback edition of Vh1 Supersonic, which takes place from February 24th to 26th in Pune, will also host the likes of U.K. veteran DJ Bill Brewster, Indian producers like Anyasa, Arjun Vagale and BLOT!.
The phase one lineup of Supersonic holds few other surprises, so there’s New Delhi/Goa gypsy/waltz/rock band Peter Cat Recording Co., their vocalist-guitarist Suryakant Sawhney’s electronic project Lifafa, the members’ alternative project Begum, Pune-based alt group Easy Wanderlings, Bengaluru duo RANJ x Clifr and more.
Among the newer, fresher indie acts on the lineup are Chennai psychedelic-pop artist Sunflower Tape Machine, Bengaluru neo hip-hop band T.ill APES and more.
OAFF x Savera were the first artists announced for Vh1 Supersonic earlier this week, via a live video broadcast conversation with festival curator Nikhil Chinapa. Savera said, “It is going to be a fun experience as we are putting effort to go all out playing live.” OAFF added during the conversation, “It’s our first time connecting with our fans directly and it’s very new for us. So, we are super kicked to experience it at Supersonic. We previously have watched great acts at Supersonic, and since the pandemic came it was really difficult to experience this. We are looking forward to play live which will have a bunch of our songs, some new stuff with cool collaborators.”
Chinapa, for his part, said in a statement about the lineup, “Our lineup reflects our own passion for dynamism and progress and includes artists that many will find exhilarating and unique. Our festival layout sees many changes too, unfolding like an exciting graphic novel where each panel brings a new surprise and tells a different story, challenging our fans to explore, indulge and experience our Vh1 Supersonic festival, 2023.”
