The Kerala thrash metallers have released the first new song since their 2017 album 'All Against All'
After more than two years since the release of their second album All Against All, Thiruvananthapuram thrash metallers Chaos return with a new single and music video called “Rise From The Ashes.”
Never ones to back down from their punishing brand of metal, the Kerala band’s latest song marks 15 years of Chaos in action. Vocalist Jayakrishnan S. aka Jaaga says the video comes at a special time for the band. While the song — produced by Chaos’s go-to man, Mumbai-based guitarist-producer Keshav Dhar — heaps on familiar pulverizing power, the lyrics actually speak of a hopefulness in personal and public wars and battles.
In the music video shot by filmmaker Siva S., the band members are seen shouting out the words to the camera, amidst nonstop moshpit action. Other familiar metal figures also take turns in front of the screen, including Bengaluru guitarist-producer Premik Jolly (from thrash metal band Threinody).
Jayakrishnan says about shooting the video, “It was great to be working with the Chaos clan again, after the music video of ‘All Against All.’ But, this is mostly a whole different set of fans.” The song isn’t exactly off their next record, but more to perhaps mark a transition of sorts. Guitarist Nikhil N.R. says, “We are currently working on our third album, of which around seven songs have been completed. We decided to make this song in between, which is slightly more groovier and less heavier compared to our usual album material. It is a song which exhorts people to stand up and fight, however down and out you are, however badly you have been pushed down.”
