The track leads the singer-songwriter, producer and actor's first solo EP 'Chapter 0: With'
South Korean singer-songwriter, producer and actor Jinyoung has dropped his first solo record Chapter 0: With. The GOT7 member unveiled the EP and its lead single “Cotton Candy” on January 18th, along with an endearing music video. The EP follows his 2021 solo debut with the single “Dive.”
Written and co-composed by Jinyoung along with producers Distract and Ludwig Lindell, “Cotton Candy” is a bright pop track with disco-funk influences. It doubles as a sweet love song and thank you to Jinyoung’s fans as he sings, “Your voice in this strange tension/ It’s like fresh music/ The coolness that surrounds us/ Ride up the wind/ Feel so high like the sky/ It feels like I am flying in the sky, I can fly/ Just me, oh, me like this/ You let me exist as it is.”
The music video for “Cotton Candy” begins with a cloud hovering about Jinyoung wherever he goes. When dancers–representing his fans or even his friends– come into the frame, the cloud disappears and Jinyoung’s mood lifts as he smiles and joins the dancers to perform playful choreography. The cloud comes and goes throughout the clip, but Jinyoung focuses on the celebration of his career and the people around him, finding happiness in the moment.
Chapter 0: With celebrates Jinyoung’s 10-year career in the entertainment industry and features five tracks written by the GOT7 member. The singer-songwriter is also a co-composer on every song. In addition to “Cotton Candy,” Chapter 0: With features “Animal,” “Our Miracle,” “Sleep Well” and “Letter.”
Jinyoung’s last comeback outside of OSTs was in 2022 with the rest of the members of GOT7 when they dropped their hit single, “Na Na Na.” The singer-songwriter is also a prominent actor in the Korean film and television industry, known for his critically acclaimed performances in various projects like Yumi’s Cells, The Devil Judge, Yaksha: Ruthless Operations and A Christmas Carol. More recently, Jinyoung announced he will be embarking on a solo fan-meeting tour in Asia titled ‘Rendezvous 2023.’
The case will be taken up in March 2026 in the Delhi High Court
