Watch Guru Randhawa Perform ‘Patola’ on ‘Royal Stag Barrel Select MTV Unplugged’

When we sit down to speak to Guru Randhawa, the first thing he tells is that his main objective as a child was to be on television. He says, “I always wondered how these people come on T.V., that’s the time I made sure I work so hard that I will be on T.V. forever.” And now as we near closer to the premiere of Royal Stag Barrel Select MTV Unplugged Season 8 ”“ Randhawa is at the center of our focus on television as we’ve been treated with a delightful version of the Punjabi singer-songwriter’s magnum opus “Patola.”

The unplugged version of the song features delicate acoustic guitar parts by guitarist Bryden Lewis and slick flute lines courtesy of Parth Chandiramani of cross genre duo Bryden-Parth, pleasing backing vocals by Bengaluru-based choir The Choral Riff and of course Randhawa’s effervescent singing. The Punjabi hit maker says, “I keep working hard so that I also contribute somehow in the Indian music industry.” He adds, “I just love and enjoy my music, it is just a journey and everybody can sing it.”

Later this year, Randhawa is set to go out on a world tour, release a single with American rapper Pitbull and also do more work in Bollywood.
