Famous Canadian-Indian YouTuber Lilly Singh, who goes by her alter-ego ‘Superwoman’ on digital platforms, has been tapped to host her own late-night talk show on the U.S. TV network NBC. Her daily show called A Little Late with Lilly Singh will air later this year. NBC’s late night talk shows have been home for some of the biggest names on U.S. television over the years including the likes of Johnny Carson, David Letterman, Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers.

Singh’s new show takes over a time slot vacated by another famous host Carson Daly. It will follow Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show and Seth Meyers’ The Late Night Show. She made the big announcement on Fallon’s show two days ago, and was flanked by him and Meyers in the official photograph.

With over 14 million followers on her channel called IISuperwomanII, Singh is one of the biggest stars on YouTube worldwide, both in terms of popularity and earnings. She suffered from depression as a teenager and started the channel in 2010 to get around it, after graduating in Arts and Psychology from Toronto’s York University. As a YouTuber, Singh’s target audience was initially made up of the Indian diaspora who found her skits relatable and the desi memes she created hilarious. However, she soon diversified her takes to include conversations on gender relations, issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community and NRI know-how. Last month Singh announced to her 5.7 million Twitter followers that she was a bisexual.

She becomes not only the first Indian-origin woman to host a North American late night talk show, but also one of three women to host one currently in the U.S., alongside Samantha Bee and Busy Philipps. “It’s official. Ya girl is getting her own @nbc late night show… A Little Late with Lilly Singh. Thank you so much for being here. I am truly so grateful,” Singh wrote on Twitter.
