Aswekeepsearching, When Chai Met Toast and More Set for Kerplunk 3 in New Delhi

The rock gig series third edition also hosts percussive guitarist Dhruv Visvanath, Guwahati alt rockers Lucid Recess and more

For three months now, the capital has welcomed some of the North East’s best talent on stage as part of gig series Kerplunk. That includes rock act Dossers Urge, indie band Yesterdrive, pop rockers Frisky Pints and more.

For their third edition on November 10th, there’s a heavy-hitter lineup featuring post-rock band Aswekeepsearching, Kerala acoustic/folk indie act When Chai Met Toast, Guwahati alt rock/metal band Lucid Recess and city-based singer-songwriter, percussive guitarist Dhruv Visvanath and rock ”˜n roll band The Pilgrim.

Organisers Qrated’s co-founder Kaushik Jai Barua says their previous two editions (check out the aftermovie from the second edition featuring Yesterdrive below) have been packed, despite their fledgling presence. Barua says, “The ‘ready and waiting’ crowd is the result of a lot of phone calls, a lot of persuasion and some luck I’d say. We don’t want a band to travel all the way from the other end of the country to come and perform to a paltry sum of people.”

Kerplunk””as well as Qrated’s other events””have a bent towards the North East’s rock and alternative music circuit. Barua says, “We specialize in curating lineups that comprise the best of the Northeast Indian circuit given that our entire team is from the North East. Our aim is to bring these artists to new audiences- especially to an unassuming one.”

Despite a cancelation by Chennai rockers Skrat at the second edition (owing to frontman Sriram T.T’s ill health), Barua says the team does it for the “thrill of having to pull off a gig despite the obstacles.” He adds diplomatically, “We would definitely want to do this as long as it’s viable.”

Kerplunk Edition 3 ft Aswekeepsearching, Dhruv Visvanath, Lucid Recess, When Chai Met Toast, The Pilgrim takes place at Auro Kitchen & Bar, New Delhi. Entry: Rs 500, available here. Event details here.
