Taking a page from the book of old-school hardcore favorites such as Madball and Agnostic Front, Hyderabad band R.A.I.D. tear through their latest single “Shattered Beliefs.” Bearing a flurry of crossover thrash metal influences, the four-member act train their sights on the intermingling of politics and religion.

Although a familiar punching bag for heavy music songwriting, R.A.I.D. frontman Rueban Issac shouts aloud about how he’d rather “fight back than give in to the system” of corrupt practices. “Shattered Beliefs” is part of the band’s forthcoming third album Defiance, releasing via American label Rottweiler Records on March 25th. Although preceded by the visceral, stomping single “Alpha,” the band terms “Shattered Beliefs” as the heaviest song on the seven-track album.

Their latest single is accompanied by a music video shot by filmmaker/photographer Sai Ratan in an alarming hue of red lights. The band says in a statement, “It is lyrically based on the idiom ‘a wolf in sheep’s clothing.’ The song applies specific emphasis to the idiom in the context of the decline of religion. Religion over centuries has been associated or linked to every political agenda. In the current day and age, people are leveraging religion as a form of business, in turn destroying any sense of faith that exists between God and man.”

True to their rock-solid Christian music roots, the band quotes a sentence in the Bible as well in their statement: “Beware of false prophets that come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”

R.A.I.D., who came together in 2016 and currently comprises Issac, guitarist Abishek Allapanda, bassist Sam Jaba and drummer Bobbin Jaydev, have released two albums so far. The Strong Survive was out in 2018, followed by their sophomore record Imperium in 2019.
