From Monica Dogra and Kanchan Daniel in Mumbai to Ladies Compartment in Ahmadabad, here are some gigs you can choose from to celebrate the badass women in music on March 8th

Watch Chennai-based electronic act MADM make her Mumbai debut, supported by R&B/jazz outfit Kimochi Youkai (led by frontwoman Ambika Nayak) and Chennai producer-duo Sapta as part of event curators Pinwheelers’ showcase series 53 Watts.

”˜Hear Me Roar’ at The Finch, Mumbai

Mumbai restaurant and music venue The Finch recruits an all-male instrumental band to pay tribute to female artists across the board, including national leading voices Alka Yagnik, Shubha Mudgal, Abida Parveen to modern singers Sona Mohapatra, Shalmali Kholgade and Shilpa Rao, as well as international hitmakers such as Meghan Trainor, Rihanna, Beyoncé, and Katy Perry.

”˜Divas at the Opera’ at Royal Opera House, Mumbai

Divided into two acts, the show starts with musician and actor Monica Dogra, blues singer Kanchan Daniel and Shillong vocalist Tipriti Kharbangar taking the stage during Act One. Along with solo performances, Daniel and Kharbangar will also perform with their respective bands Kanchan Daniel & the Beards and Soulmate.

Dahlia at The Quarter, Mumbai

IThe Royal Opera House’s new music venue The Quarter will continue Act Two of the Women’s Day festivities with Toronto singer-songwriter Dahlia Fernandes presenting love-centric indie pop/alternative tunes, supported by percussionist Emmanuel Simon and Mumbai singer-songwriter Mohit Mukhi.

Generation Why Edition 7, Ahmedabad

Although it’s happening a day earlier on March 7th, the popular gig series highlights women in music by featuring all-female ensemble Ladies Compartment. The band comprises rising indie artists including guitarist Ramya Pothuri, drummer Aarifah Rebello, keyboardist Aditi Ramesh, violinist Kirsten Marea and bassist Nandita V, all of whom will also handle vocal duties. If you’re in Hyderabad you can catch Ladies Compartment perform at Nalsar University of Law on March 8th.
