Matchday six of the Premier League saw Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and City all drop points while Liverpool skimmed past Sheffield United and Tottenham Hotspur picked up a 1-0 win away to Burnley.

Last weekend’s round of fixtures opened on Friday night with Leeds United visiting Aston Villa and beating them 3-0 courtesy of a Patrick Bamford hattrick. The result meant that Villa lost their first game of the season after winning four in a row. The action picked up once more on Saturday and this time it was top of the table Everton who were dealt their first defeat to Southampton at St. Mary’s which ended 2-0. The Toffees had a man sent off for the second game running when Lucas Digne was shown red.

Later that day Frank Lampard and his Chelsea side traveled to Old Trafford to take on Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s Manchester United. The game didn’t live up to the hype and was instead a dead rubber snooze fest, finishing 0-0. “It was an even game. After a slow start, we grew into the game and played some decent stuff,” said Solskjær. Lampard added, “It was in the final third where we lacked today but the clean sheet was a big plus for us.”

In the other games, Liverpool managed to pick up a 2-1 win at home to Sheffield United after the visitors went one goal up via a penalty in the first half. Liverpool replied late in the same half after Roberto Firmino, who was due a goal after a lengthy drought, leveled things before new boy Diogo Jota sealed the win. Spurs’ Son and Kane connection combined once more to give the London side a 1-0 win against Burnley while Arsenal fell flat to a resilient Leicester side who beat them at the Emirates Stadium through substitute Jamie Vardy’s sole goal of the match. Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City was denied victory against West Ham, with David Moyes’ men holding them to a 1-1 draw.

Matchday seven of the Premier League will see Sheffield United host Manchester City, Chelsea travel to Burnley, Liverpool play West Ham United at home, Brighton takes on Spurs and Manchester United entertain Arsenal at Old Trafford.
