Undying Inc Talk Blistering New Song ‘Python Precision’

New Delhi/Mumbai band will perform in the capital after five years at gig series Assault Fest on Jun. 16

Metallers Undying Inc strike and rattle in their latest song “Python Precision,” their first release since 2022 and the fourth since Mumbai vocalist Sunneith Revankar (formerly of Bhayanak Maut) joined them.

Although not as technical as their previous works, Undying Inc take fans down a spiral of madness in terms of intensity. The song comes as they return to the stage for a launch gig on Jun. 16 at gig series Assault Fest in Auro Kitchen and Bar, performing in New Delhi after five years and for the first time with the current lineup comprising Revankar, guitarist Biswarup Gupta, bassist Ezra Helios and drummer Jerry Nelson Ranee.

Completed in late 2023, Gupta is okay to say they got delayed “for no specific reason” in putting “Python Precision” out. Revankar recalls that the guitarist had shared the track with them back when Undying played their first gig with the present lineup, in September 2022 in Mumbai. “We had come back after the show, and listened to the demo. And then we were immediately very, very excited about the possibilities of this,” the vocalist adds.

Gupta points out that there was another unreleased track, “Melting Point,” in the works back then. Revankar adds, “We’d started working on that and Biz ambushed us with this one [‘Python Precision’] and we thought, ‘Fuck that, let’s work on this.’” The guitarist – and only founding member around since the band came together in the early 2000s – says that “Python Precision” is very much straightforward and reminds him of one of their most punishing songs, “Existence Failed” which appeared on metal compilations around 2007 and their 2010 EP Evilution of a Manimal, plus their debut album Aggressive World Dynasty in 2010.

Lyrically, Revankar says he’s been putting pen to paper by being more “inward leaning” on songs like “Python Precision” and their previous single, “Open Source Degenerate” from 2022. “With ‘Glock,’ it was pure unbridled rage and ‘Decimate’ had a bit of horror […] ‘Python’ is straight-up about overcoming adversity, inner adversity, specifically with crippling fear or crippling anxiety,” he adds.

About two decades into the band, Gupta says they may be working remotely now, but they’re clear in the way forward. “Whatever happens, we let it happen […] We’re not really planning as to which direction to take, we’re just letting it flow naturally,” the guitarist adds. Long-distance, the band members are regularly in touch over the phone, exchanging files and checking in on each other. “It’s just the times and we just have to make things happen rather than sit and complain that we can’t make it happen,” Gupta says.

Revankar adds that there might be drawbacks and while he does wish they were all in one city to spend more time as a band, they’re “actively connected as a group.” “We’re fairly well-coordinated and making the most of what we have,” he adds.
